Word list

Show picture cue
Shows a small keyword picture for the active sound. Off by default to keep the screen calm.

Add a word

Type a word, then tweak each sound if needed. Use the menu to change what a letter says, mark a silent letter, or join letters that make one sound (like s + h becoming sh). SaySoKids makes a first guess for you.
Advanced: type the sound chunks yourself
Break the word into sounds, not letters. "ship" is sh i p. Make a letter say a different sound with c=k a t (the c says /k/). Silent letter: add a tilde, "cake" is c=k a k e~.

Sound bank

Every tool plays sounds from here. Hold the dot to record a sound in your own voice, which replaces the robot voice everywhere. Drop a picture at the path shown and it appears as the cue. SLP recordings get a checkmark.

Robot voice (used until a sound is recorded)

Device voices sound different on different phones and tablets. If a word is unclear, record your own version above.

Save & load

Your lists and recordings are saved on this device automatically. Export makes a backup file you can keep or move by hand. No accounts, and nothing that identifies your child ever leaves the device. (Optional syncing below copies only word lists and settings, never recordings.)

Sync across devices (optional)

Get a code on one device, enter it on another to copy your word lists and settings over. Recordings stay on each device. A code works like a password, so keep it private.

Start fresh

Clears all saved word lists, settings, and recordings on this device. The built-in levels come back. This cannot be undone.

Sound Slider

Slide a finger under a word to blend its sounds together. It helps a child blend sounds and say whole words.

  1. Pick a word, then drag the dot under it from left to right, or just tap each sound one at a time.
  2. Each sound plays as you reach it. Hold sounds stretch, pop sounds tap once.
  3. Tap Blend it to hear it smoothly, or Say it for the whole word.
Coaching tips for grown-ups

Say: Touch each dot as we say the sounds slowly. Now slide and say the whole word.

Watch for: Help your child listen to each sound instead of guessing from the picture.

Stop when: Stop after about five good tries, or sooner if your child gets frustrated.

Make it easier: Say the sounds together first, then let your child try alone. Turn on the picture cue.

Make it harder: Hide the picture, speed up the slide a little, or use a longer word from My Words.
