Two words that differ by just one sound, like sip and ship. Hearing and saying the contrast helps a child notice and produce a tricky sound. Minimal-pair practice is commonly used to help children hear and practice contrasts between speech sounds.

Listen mode: tap Hear it, then tap the word you heard.
Say it mode: tap each word to hear it, then say it back, feeling the difference.
Pick a sound set in settings, or add your child's own pair.

Coaching tips for grown-ups

Say: Listen: ship. Point to ship. Now you say it: ship, not sip.

Watch for: Whether your child hears the difference first. Listening comes before saying.

Stop when: Stop after a handful of pairs or when it stops being fun.

Make it easier: Use Say it mode and exaggerate the target sound together.

Make it harder: Use Listen mode and say the word without your child watching your mouth.
